Anissaras is located 24 kilometers east of Heraklion and 1 kilometer west of Hersonissos. The area of Anissaras is part of the unique stretch of Cretan coastline from Kokkini Hani to Malia.

Unlike the bustling city center in Hersonissos, Anissaras is a tranquil place where tourists can relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the Cretan coastline. There are no bars or nightlife in Anissaras, but there are several upscale hotels and tourist apartments available. Although it is not as busy as Hersonissos, it is still a popular tourist destination due to its close proximity to all the action in town.
